10-10:30a  Program Overview and Q&A with Tom Delbello and Aaron Brown - Co-Heads of Musical Theatre 

10:30-12p  Dance Master Class with Julio Catano, Head of Musical Theatre Dance

Bring a headshot and resume and wear dance attire and jazz shoes or sneakers.

12-1:30p  Lunch

1:30-3:30p  Song Audition Master Class with Tom Delbello and Aaron Brown

Bring a 32-bar (60-90s) cut of one of your musical theatre college audition songs. No piano accompanist will be provided, so bring recorded tracks and a playback device. Bring a headshot and résumé and dress in nice casual, comfortable clothes.

3:30-4:30p  Campus Tour (please wear comfortable shoes as there are a lot of hills)

4:30-5p Current Student Meet-and-Greet + Q+A - Campus tour will conclude with a Q+A session with current students and CAC alumni.

 

Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend all events

 

Tom Delbello is a multidisciplinary theatre educator who holds an MFA in Directing from Texas State. His career as a performer and director has taken him around the world and as an educator, he seeks to create a brave space for students to fail forward on their path to discovering their unique voice as storytellers. Tom will also answer your questions about the Texas State MT program and their prescreen process.

Aaron Brown holds an MFA in Directing from Baylor University and a BM in Music Theatre from Oklahoma City University. In his directing career, Aaron has had the opportunity to work on new works and develop fresh takes on established pieces. Aaron is a proud supporter and promoter of diversity in the arts. He is a firm believer that Representation Matters!

Julio Catano serves as the coordinator of musical theatre dance at Texas State University. He holds an MFA in musical theatre from San Diego State University and a BFA in dance from The Ailey School/Fordham University. Julio's performance credits include the international tour of West Side Story (Chino), national tour of The Addams Family, as well as an extensive career with regional houses such as The Kennedy Center, Shakespeare Theatre Company, La Jolla Playhouse, Arena Stage, Houston's TUTS among others. TV/Film credits include Steven Spielberg's West Side Story (2021), Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and FOX's Pitch.
