3p-4:30p Campus Tour with a current musical theater student. They will meet you at the graduate Ann Arbor and show you around.

4:30p-5p the campus tour will end with a Panel Q&A with CAC alums who are current students!

 

You we'll have the rest of the evening to have dinner and explore Ann Arbor on your own.

Optional: The department will be running a production of Sophisticated Ladies and we encourage you to purchase tickets here to get a glimpse into what production work at UM looks like.

1p-4p Walgreen Drama Center, Towsley Studio

Acting the Song Masterclass with Cynthia Westphal, Professor of Musical Theater / Department Music Director

 

Bring two college audition songs (1-minute cuts) from Broadway musicals. Cynthia will choose one of your songs to work with. Bring recorded accompaniment tracks and a player. No live accompaniment provided. Bring headshot and résumé and dress in nice casual, comfortable clothes.

 

Cynthia is adored by all of her students, and you'll see why. On top of being a world-class educator, she is a professionally active music director, having recently music directed the first national tour of the Tony-winning production Come From Away, and conducted over 400 performances in 30 cities across the US and Canada. Broadway credits include The Lion King (associate music director, conductor, and keyboard player for seven years), A Christmas StoryMiss Saigon (keyboards) and The Gershwin’s Fascinating Rhythm (music supervisor, music director, conductor).

 

There will be time at the end for a Q&A with Cynthia about the University of Michigan program and their prescreen process.

 

Parents and students may both attend tour, class, and Q&A.
